As mentioned, Lola is also a young woman who suffers from anxiety. Why did you decide to address the topic of mental health in this novel?
In this novel, I wanted to represent what I believe to be one of the possible female experiences in contemporary times. I started thinking about it and realised that most of my friends and other people I know suffer from some mental health disorder, be it anxiety or other. So for me, it was impossible to write about the millennial generation and not address the topic of mental health.

Review on Deus Me Livro
Lola (Suma de Letras, 2021), Cátia Vieira's first novel, captivates in its depiction of the current generation of young people before the age of thirty - to which the author belongs. A generation that is disbelieving, disenchanted and uncertain about the direction it should (and can) take in life, both professionally and emotionally. Looking at the similar academic backgrounds of the author and the main character (Lola), one wonders how autobiographical this novel is.
