Lola by Cátia Vieira

Lola is looking for her place in the world. Between anxiety attacks that leave her paralysed and her way of looking at others through the lens of her film camera, she wanders the streets of Porto without finding what she's looking for.

In a permanent struggle between what she is, what she would like to be and what others expect of her, Lola decides to cut the fragile ties that bind her to the country and move to Madrid, a cheerful and more open capital where she hopes to find some peace.

In this debut novel, the author explores the coming-of-age genre and some of the questions that have affected human beings since the dawn of time —who we are and where we are going.
